Amid growing anticipation for the launch of altcoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs), it is expected that Ripple and Solana (SOL) ETFs have more than a 70% chance of being listed this year.
On the 9th, Park Woo-yeol, a researcher at Shinhan Investment Corp., stated in the 'Theme ETF Guidebook' report, "The short history of recognized value and the lack of easily understandable physical substance are drawbacks of Bitcoin (BTC), yet the continuous net inflow of virtual assets (cryptocurrencies) into the ETF market is chasing gold in terms of ETF market capitalization."
In the report, Park also provided forecasts related to altcoin ETFs. He stated, "The altcoins with the highest possibility of ETF launch after Ethereum (ETH) are Ripple and Solana, with a more than 70% chance of listing this year," adding, "These two are expected to compete for the third position by 2025."
There was also an explanation that the status of virtual assets is rising globally. Park mentioned, "The daily average trading volume of domestic virtual assets has surpassed the combined trading volume of KOSPI and KOSDAQ," and "Institutional investors are expanding indirect investments in cryptocurrencies, and global investment banks (IBs), asset managers, pension funds, and national-level investment decision-makers are changing their stance on crypto positively."
Meanwhile, investors also seem to be betting high on the possibility of Ripple and Solana spot ETFs being listed within the year. According to Polymarket, as of today, investors estimate the possibility of Ripple and Solana spot ETF launches at 70% and 74%, respectively.
