Bithumb Changes Partner Bank from NH Nonghyup to KB Kookmin

Domestic virtual asset (cryptocurrency) exchange Bithumb is set to change its partner bank from NH Nonghyup Bank to KB Kookmin Bank.

According to industry sources on the 12th, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Financial Services Commission recently accepted Bithumb's application to change the issuing bank for real-name accounts. From March 24, customers wishing to trade virtual assets on Bithumb will need to use a Kookmin Bank account. Bithumb plans to notify customers of the change in partner bank starting on the 13th.

Previously, in August, Bithumb applied to the FIU to change its partner bank to KB Kookmin Bank, but failed to do so as the authorities requested improvements on certain deficiencies.

Subsequently, in September last year, Bithumb extended its bank partnership with NH Nonghyup for a short term of six months, stating, "We will thoroughly prepare user protection measures in accordance with supervisory guidelines," and "The report on changing the partner bank will be supplemented according to the guidelines of the authorities."
