Sui Foundation: 'Launching blockchain gaming console this year... High interest in Korean market'

Layer-1 (L1) blockchain project Sui Foundation will officially launch its blockchain-based portable gaming console 'SuiPlay 0X1' this year.

On the 13th, Christian Thompson, Managing Director of Sui Foundation, announced this plan at a media roundtable held at Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Director Thompson explained, "Last year, we conducted pre-orders for SuiPlay 0X1 in Korea, and received 1,738 orders in just one week," adding that "the cumulative orders have exceeded 7,000 units, which is 70% of our Q1 target." He further stated, "We will begin product shipping along with the official launch within this year."

Sui Foundation plans to focus on expanding its blockchain gaming ecosystem alongside the console launch. Thompson said, "Various blockchain games will be released through SuiPlay 0X1," adding that "this includes games from Korean gaming companies NHN and Xociety."

He also addressed the relatively high console price. "While the $599 price point might seem high, we will justify this through the product's high quality," he said, adding that "we are also planning various token airdrop events utilizing the gaming console."

He evaluated the Korean market as a 'strategic stronghold.' Thompson stated, "Korea is a country with an excellent gaming industry and numerous virtual asset investors," and revealed that "we plan to make active investments in various sectors going forward."

He also emphasized their consistent activities in Korea, including hackathon events and partnerships with educational institutions. "We have conducted various activities in Korea, including hosting hackathons and operating educational programs," he said, adding "we will continue to value the Korean market and maintain our efforts."

He also commented on how Donald Trump's presidential election victory has positively impacted the virtual asset industry. "Communication with the government is improving, and clear regulations are being gradually announced," he said, adding "we plan to actively pursue cooperation with various countries going forward."
