"Now is the Opportunity" Ethereum Sweep... The Trump Family Was Different [Cryptocurrency AtoZ]

Amid the global stock and cryptocurrency markets plummeting due to U.S. President Donald Trump's 'tariff bomb' policy, it has been reported that the Trump family took advantage of this crash to purchase Ethereum.

Bloomberg recently reported that "the Trump family's DeFi (Decentralized Finance) project, World Liberty Financial, accumulated millions of dollars worth of Ethereum after the cryptocurrency market crashed due to tariffs imposed on Mexico and Canada." Recently, the cryptocurrency market has plunged due to concerns that the Trump administration's tariff bomb could stimulate inflation and delay the timing of interest rate cuts.

According to blockchain data analysis company Nansen, the wallet address owned by World Liberty Financial purchased an additional 21,177 Ethereum on the 3rd. This address bought Ethereum worth $340 million (about 492.1 billion won) when Ethereum was showing weakness last month. According to the domestic cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, the leading altcoin Ethereum returned 5 million won and continued to weaken, retreating to the 4.18 million won level.

The Trump family is promoting various businesses such as cryptocurrency-based loans through projects like World Liberty Financial. Eric Trump, the second son of President Trump, also hinted at additional Ethereum purchases. On the 4th, Eric said on X (formerly Twitter), "I think now is the perfect timing to buy Ethereum." Two days later, he also said, "Now is a good time to buy Bitcoin."

The market is questioning whether World Liberty Financial has sold tokens. World Liberty Financial explained, "We do not sell the tokens we hold," and "the recent transfer of tokens externally was to pay operating expenses and manage working capital, which is in accordance with standard financial management procedures."
