Interview with David Jiao, CEO of Privasea
Development of the Human Proof Application 'Imhuman'
Collected biometric data encrypted with FHE technology
"Mainnet and tokens to be launched soon... Great interest in the Korean market"
"As artificial intelligence (AI) advances, it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between bots and humans. Privasea has created an application that can prove humanity while securely protecting users' biometric information using Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) technology."
David Jiao (pictured), CEO of Privasea, stated this in an interview with Bloomingbit on the 12th.
Privasea is a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) that aims to solve the concern of 'biometric data leakage' following the 'Proof of Humanity (PoH)' project using FHE technology. Human proof has emerged as a new topic in the AI era. As AI becomes more sophisticated, it has become difficult to distinguish between humans and bots online, leading to an increase in fraud using this.
CEO Jiao explained that 'Imhuman', developed by Privasea, is a human proof app that solves these problems.
He said, "Imhuman is an app that helps distinguish between humans, AI, and bots online. Users can receive a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) that proves their humanity by recognizing their face in the app," adding, "Users can register the NFT to prove they are human, and platforms can filter out bots and spam. Currently, the human proof function of Imhuman can be used through Telegram."
He also assured that the biometric information provided by users is securely protected and stored through FHE technology. FHE is a technology that performs calculations on already encrypted data without decrypting it. It is characterized by processing all data in an encrypted form, making it impossible for anyone to recognize the user's sensitive personal information.
CEO Jiao explained, "Privasea applies FHE technology to calculate all data in an encrypted state and transmit and return it to the node. The biometric information provided by users is encrypted with FHE technology as soon as it is collected," adding, "No one can see the personal information contained in the data. Only the user can decrypt the data using the FHE private key given to them."
The industry is also paying attention to Privasea's technology. Recently, Privasea raised $5 million through a seed round involving 14 venture capitals (VCs) including Binance Labs and Gate Labs, achieving a total accumulated investment of $9.75 million. CEO Jiao said, "We are currently conducting a Series A round. GSR and Amber Group have participated," adding, "The exact scale will be announced once the round is completed."
He also shared plans for the launch of Privasea's tokens and mainnet. CEO Jiao said, "We are currently building the mainnet infrastructure and testnet. The beta version of the testnet is scheduled to be released on the 20th of this month," adding, "Users can participate in testnet beta mining to obtain the token 'PRVA'. Tokens will also be distributed to miners providing computing power."
He said, "The token is targeted for release in the first quarter of next year. We are negotiating with exchanges for the Token Generation Event (TGE)," adding, "We plan to airdrop 10% of the tokens issued in the first year to Imhuman users."
Meanwhile, CEO Jiao also expressed great interest in the Korean market. Privasea opened an official Korean community last August and has been actively targeting the domestic market. He said, "I understand that Korean users are operating and using our nodes," adding, "We are considering ways to activate the Korean community."
He continued, "Recently, we have formed partnerships with the Korean medical AI company 'MAI' and the virtual asset (cryptocurrency) affiliate of the Korea Economic Media Group, Bloomingbit," adding, "We are doing our best to promote Privasea in Korea. We feel deep gratitude for the support of the Korean community and will show a more developed appearance in the future."
